NYBU Billing Specialist

We are seeking a passionate and ambitious claims management professional, to assist with billing processes of home care agencies that utilize our software and services platform. In this capacity, the “Billing Specialist” will be responsible for billing and payer setups, testing of EDI files, training, product support, and troubleshoeting with existing and new customers. The Billing Specialist should be highly adept at identifying billing-related issues, as well as diagnosising and resolving them. S/he should be able to work in a fast-paced environment, be comfortable seeking answers both internally and externally, and support clients in a training-coaching role.


Key Responsibilities:

–          Assist the Sandata Implementation team to ensure successful billing and remittance setup for new customers, and for those upgrading to newer Sandata platforms

–          Assist our Customer Care, Account Management, Product-IT and Implementation teams with troubleshooting of billing and related issues

–          Assist our Customer Care team to ensure successful setup of new payor contracts at existing customers, including the testing of billing files alongside our Systems Analyst

–          Respond to direct customer billing inquiries and follow through to successful resolution

–          Train internal and external customers on evenue cycle functions and workflows

–          Assist our Product  team with design and development

–          Assist with new sales opportunities, at times onsite with prospects (alongside our Sales team)

–          Research and keep up to date on billing requirements for all payers including MCO’s and Medicaid

–          Research ever-changing billing requirements and ensure they are accurately adjusted/maintained in our systems’ payer settings in a timely fashion

–          Research specific ERA remits as needed

–           Support customers/Implementation of errors from 277 reports

–          Interpret clearinghouse reported errors, claims rejections and denials



  • Minimum of 3 years’ healthcare billing or related experience

·         Ability to grasp software / technical concepts quickly

  • Proven record of navigating and troubleshooting billing / revenue cycle issues

·         Understanding of New York Medicaid and Managed Care home health billing and environments; that of other states also helpful

·         Familiarity and experience with licensed home care agencies, certified agencies and managed care health plans a plus

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Willingness to travel regionally within the NY area, mostly downstate, ocassional travel to Upstate NY and other states.
