Sandata Technologies, LLC and Dataline Inc. to Merge;Expands Capabilities in Health Care and Social Services
Port Washington and Farmingdale, NY – May 14, 2007 - Sandata Technologies, LLC, a leading IT services provider to the home health care and social services community, and Dataline Inc., an IT services company providing monitoring, billing and point of care solutions to the municipal and home health sectors, today announced the merger of the two companies. Following the merger, Dataline will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sandata Technologies and the combined entity will continue to support the full suite of both companies’ products.
Bert E. Brodsky, chairman & chief executive officer of Sandata, commented, “We are very pleased to join forces with Dataline, a company whose technology, value-added services and customer focus are so closely aligned with ours. Arnold Link, chief executive officer of Dataline, along with Don Saporito, chief operating officer, and the full management team of Dataline, will join Sandata in key management roles within the newly combined company. Among his responsibilities, Arnold Link will continue to oversee Dataline’s important relationship with the New York City Department of Health. Each of these talented executives has extensive experience and tenure in the industry and we look forward to their ongoing contributions.”
Sandata and Dataline both provide systems for scheduling visits between caregivers and patients, the collection of home health care visit data from the point of care, billing and payroll processing. Additionally, Sandata and Dataline each provide unique telephony systems for monitoring the caregiver’s time and attendance. The telephony applications of the combined company will operate under intellectual property patents owned by Sandata Technologies, which govern the use of telephone-based personnel tracking systems. Collectively the service offering of Sandata and Dataline increase efficiencies, reduce costs and help eliminate fraud and abuse. In N.Y., for example, fraud and abuse are estimated to comprise at least 10% of the state $46 billion Medicaid budget. New York governor Elliot Spitzer has made Medicaid fraud a top priority in his new administration. With over 300,000 patients served by caregivers utilizing our technology, Sandata is a leader in the field and is well positioned to play a meaningful role in the governor’s mandate to increase efficiencies and reduce fraud in the Medicaid system.
Mr. Brodsky continued, “Our automated telephony system is used in most states throughout the country and is very effective in reducing fraud and abuse because it verifies that the appropriate caregiver is in the right place at the right time performing the right services. Caregivers must call into the system from the point of care upon arrival at the scheduled appointment and just before leaving, at which time they document the services rendered. The time of the calls is recorded by the system as they occur and time-consuming manual input and record-keeping are eliminated. This leaves the caregiver more time to tend to patients rather than completing paperwork. We believe we provide an important part of the solution to the growing health care challenge facing our society.”
Stephen A. Silverstein, president of Sandata, commented, “As premier providers of IT services to the home health care and social services markets for over 25 years, both Sandata and Dataline have developed and implemented leading-edge services that increase productivity, reduce fraud and maximize our clients’ return on their IT investments. Accordingly, our IT services have achieved significant cost savings on behalf of our clients, which has in turn reduced the funding burden for state governments around the country. Through our merger with Dataline, we look forward to expanding our avenues for growth and the breadth of services we provide our clients.”
Mr. Arnold Link, chief executive officer of Dataline, stated, “The synergies and expanded opportunities to be derived from the merger of our two companies are obvious and we are pleased with this latest development. While our respective companies have crossed paths as competitors over the years, by uniting we are now a bigger and stronger organization with greater access to human and capital resources. We strongly believe our customers will be the ultimate beneficiaries of these expanded capabilities, and we anticipate a very seamless transition.”
